Piecing Hexagons by Hand
Beginners Welcome !
American Hand Piecing with a running stitch is a method of hand sewing quilts that involves sewing directly on a drawn or stamped line, and has been a popular method of hand-piecing for centuries. It is an alternative method to English Paper Piecing for hand piecing quilts which allows you to do all the same designs without expensive and time-consuming papers.
All you need is a needle and thread (and of course, beautiful fabric!) for this meditative hand technique that you can carry with you anywhere.
We will use this simple method to piece a hexagon flower - the foundation for patterns ranging from sweet baby quilts to Grandmother's Flower Garden to stunning Millefiori quilts.
We'll cover methods for transferring the sewing lines, making and using templates, the basics of fussy cutting, tips for threading those tiny needles, and different layout options for hexagons.
In this class you can expect to mark, cut and sew one hexagon flower.
